In Southern California, the indisputable epicenter of surfing on the American mainland, lineups everywhere are predominantly comprised of white males.The historical and sociopolitical reasons for that are enough to fill multiple lengthy volumes, but fortunately things are changing, albeit slowly.

This mini-documentary from KCET profiles three artists who have found solace in the ocean and are playing a role by way of participation in diversifying surf with unique and thoughtful voices.
